Briefing State House correspondents at the end of its meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, said the approval was necessary to compensate states which were shortchanged in sharing of the funds by former President Goodluck Jonathan. The governor, who was joined at the briefing by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State and the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, stated that Jonathan shared the funds among former governors of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leaving out the then opposition states. The exercise, under the Awka Union USA  and Canada International Medical Mission, which is taking place in five strategic locations in  Anambra State capital, is targeted at about 2000 sick people from poor families in all the villages in the town. The trial judge in the matter is Justice Mohammed Idris. It will be recalled that the judge had on May 9, while granting an ex-parte application argued by Ubah’s lawyer, Mrs.Ifeoma Esom, ordered the DSS and its Director-General, to produce him in court, yesterday or show cause while he will not be produced. At the hearing of the matter, Ubah’s lawyer, Prince Ajibola Oluyede, urged the court to order the immediate release of his client, Ubah, due to flagrant disobedience to the order made on May 8. The Chairman of the Council, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi, announced this in Ile-Ife, yesterday. He replaced Prof. Idowu Bamitale Omole, who concluded his tenure in highly controversial circumstances. The new vice-chancellor will steer the affairs of the university for a non renewable term of five years.
