The five -day training, which would be organized by Gazelle Academy and the in-house training academy of the Polytechnic, would take place at the Oko Polytechnic main campus. A group of king makers in the town had announced the removal of the traditional ruler and appointment of a regent who, they said, would oversee the Awka Kingdom until the selection of another traditional ruler. But at the well attended meeting in Awka, the president general of Awka Development Union Nigeria, AUDN, Chief Tony Okechukwu said whatever decision the group took was null and void and of no effect because it did not have the backing of the generality of Awka people. Bashar added some Muslims were brainwashed and deceived with wealth and material things, such as giving out scholarships ; providing employment opportunities and sponsorships of their activities to join these sects. He made this known during the annual seminar programme organized by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Abeokuta North Central branch in Abeokuta recently.
