Preliminary investigations by the police showed that he was stabbed to death by four men, who posed as passengers. Ugo, according to his widow, got a call from a female passenger at about 4p.m. on April 14, to take her to an undisclosed location in Ajah. On his way back, four men stopped him along Lekki-Ajah Expressway, who asked to be taken to Yaba. Vanguard gathered that half way into the journey, the suspects ordered  Ugo to hand over the key to his Toyota Corolla cab. A police source said when he refused, the passengers stabbed and strangled him. Thereafter, they dumped the lifeless body of the 32-year- old driver by the road and left with the car. Speaking, in Lagos at this year’s World Hypertension Day conference, entitled “Know Your numbers,” Mbakwem, who is also President, Nigerian Cardiac Society, said High Blood Pressure waas the most powerful risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Lamenting the situation, she said awareness and control of hypertension was still poor. “What this means is that in every 10 Nigerian adults, there is a possibility that five of them have high blood pressure.” Mbakwem observed that only one third of the population was aware of their hypertensive status, while one third of those that are aware are on any one form of treatment or aware that their condition can be controll...

Three councilors, including the supervisors for Works, Special Duties and Health, had petitioned the Assembly, claiming the care taker chairman embezzled IGR of the council and other constitutional breaches contrary to the Local Government Administration Laws. When confronted, according to the petitioners, the embattled chairman was said to have claimed the money was spent to settle private bills of the wife of a top government official, and other stakeholders in the area.
