Motorists are complying with speed limit device — FRSC

http://ift.tt/2cO7lgT The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Friday said that motorists were complying with the installation of the speed limit devices on their vehicles. Mr Umoru Abdullahi, the Ore Unit Commander of the corps in Ore, Ondo State, that most of the commercial vehicles plying the Benin-Ore expressway had installed the device. He said that the introduction of the device by the FRSC was to reduce road crashes on the highways and to engender safety of lives and property. “Well, I can say that most of the motorists plying the Benin-Ore expressway have complied with the speed limiting device. “We are working assiduously to ensure that there is total compliance with the device,’’ he said. The FRSC boss said that the unit command had embarked on a sensitisation programme on the device, to ensure that all motorists installed it in their vehicles. He urged other road users who have yet to install the device to do so as the enforcement of its compliance was now in force. ...

Senate confirms Ocheni, Hassan as ministers

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Prof. Stephen Ocheni from Kogi and Mr Suleiman Hassan from Gombe State as ministers. The nominees were confirmed after screening by senators at plenary. The confirmation of the nominees followed a request by President Muhammdu Buhari in accordance with Section147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution as amended. Buhari had forwarded the names of the ministerial nominees to the Senate as replacements for late Mr James Ocholi (Kogi) and Mrs Amina Mohammed (Gombe). Ocholi, who was Minister of State for Employment, Labour and Productivity, died in an auto crash in 2016. Mohammed, Minister of Environment, stepped down to take up the post of Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. In his remarks after announcing the confirmation of the nominees, President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, congratulated them for scaling through the screening.
