A few minutes ago, I signed the 2017 Appropriations Bill into law. This is an important milestone in our economic recovery and Growth plan laid in April by President Muhammadu Buhari. I would like to express my appreciation to the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as the entire leadership and members of the National Assembly for completing work on the 2017 Appropriation Bill. And I will return to this point presently. The process of preparing and processing this Bill was much smoother than the 2016 Appropriations Bill. FG committed to combating climate change – Ngige

Chris Ngige, said on Thursday that combating climate change was one of the cardinal objectives of President Muhammadu Buhari led administration. Ngige made this known while addressing delegates at the ongoing 106th International Labour Conference (ILC) of the International Labour Organisation(ILO), in Geneva, Switzerland with the theme, “Work in a Changing Climate: The Green Initiative.” The minister said this in a statement signed by Mr Essah Etim, Labour AttachĂ©, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the UN Office in Geneve. Commercial sex workers stab customer to death in Ogun

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Abeokuta – The Ogun Police Command has arrested two commercial sex workers for allegedly stabbing a middle aged man, Adeyinka Olayinka to death in Ifo area of the state. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), made the disclosure on Wednesday in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta. Oyeyemi said the incident happened on Tuesday at KS Hotel in Ifo Local Government Area. He said the victim, who was supervising construction work on his site, decided to pass the night in the hotel when the incident occurred. He said that the suspects, Kudirat Raji, also known as Angela and Esther Basiru were sex workers at the Hotel where the victim was stabbed to death with broken bottles. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the victim contracted Kudirat Raji to pass the night with him on an agreed amount. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Prices of eggs have gone up by 25 per cent in Hadejia, Jigawa, due to increasing demand for the commodity, occasioned by Ramadan, the Muslims’ fasting period. Newsmen report that prices of eggs and perishable foodstuffs have increased appreciably since the commencement of the Ramadan four days ago. A NAN survey at Hadejia market showed that a crate of the egg now cost between N950 and N1,000, as against its previous price of N750. A measure of potato now cost N2,000, as against its old price of N1,600, while a tuber of yam cost N650, as against N400 its former price. Similarly, prices of fruits and perishable food items have gone up due to the increasing demand for the produce as a measure of oranges now cost N200, as against its old price of N120. The survey revealed that the current price of a bunch of banana was N250, while that of watermelon was N200, as against their old prices of N150 and N100 respectively, shortly before the fasting period.
