Video: The soldiers have seized four of our women, tore our cloths – Biafra women protest

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Some Biafran women under the banner, Great Women of Biafra, have alleged that some soldiers seized four of their members and used the nozzles of their guns to tear their clothes, rendering them naked when they gathered to pray and hold their meetings. The women who were drawn from Akwa/Ibom, Cross rivers, Imo, Enugu, Anambra and other south-south and south-east states protested topless to the palace of the Igwe, complaining that the soldiers disrupted their peaceful assembly. The Igwe who received them assured them that he would see that the situation was resolved. The Igwe who after asking the protesting women if they touched or abused the soldiers and was told no however condemned the act and asked the women to go home while he resolved the issue. Video shows the women protesting and laying their complaints at the palace of the Igwe. UTME: Impersonator arrested in Niger

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Niger Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has arrested a suspected impersonator in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). “We have arrested one Mohammed Sani Musa suspected to have been hired to write the examination for another candidate at the Ibrahim  Babangida University  centre in Lapai,” the Commandant, Mr Philip Ayuba, told newsmen. Ayuba, who spoke on Thursday in Minna, disclosed that the suspect was arrested by officers stationed at the centre. “We have interrogated the suspect and he has confessed to being hired from Nasarawa State by one Abdullahi Isa, who is still at Large,” he said. He said that the command was digging into the matter so as to bring those involved to justice . Ayuba, however, said that the exercise was hitch-free across the 14 centres in Niger. Kano Anti-Corruption Agency Suspends Probe Of Emir Sanusi

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Kano State government’s anti-corruption agency has suspended probe into the financial dealings of Emir Sanusi. Vanguard gathered this not quite some hours ago. Information reaching us states that the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission was investigating alleged misuse of N6 billion. The state’s House of Assembly launched a separate investigation of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sunusi II, following allegations of funds misappropriation, “defamation of character, breach of oath of office/oath of allegiance, abuse of office privileges and protocol, and political and religious interference”. The chairman of the anti-corruption body, Muhyi Gado, said the commission was suspending its probe “indefinitely”. He said the commission could not continue as the House was also conducting an investigation. Mr. Gado declined further comments.
