The CJN bemoaned that false report that DSS found $9m in his home is already “circulating online”, saying he would, however, not be distracted by those sponsoring campaign of calumny against him. Any time we stumble on fake products, we invite SON. We need the assistance of the Federal Government. This was contained in a statement by the National President, Supreme Council of Niger Delta Youth Council Worldwide, SCNDYCW, Ekamon Michael. Quoting a petition to the Senate, Michael explained that during the privatisation of Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, shares were allotted by the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, to the host communities. According to him, the allotment was done in the spirit of allowing the participation of the host communities in the affairs of companies on their land, particularly with regards to the volatile nature and situation of the Niger Delta. If the governors make good their promises to pay the backlog of workers’ salaries, then there would be an unprecedented economic relief throughout the country in the days ahead. The governors had at their meeting in Abuja, last weekend, promised to pay the backlog of workers’ salaries from the second tranche of the refund. Rivers State topped the list with N34.925 billion, followed by Delta and Akwa Ibom with N27.606 billion and N25.981 billion, respectively. Gombe received the least refund of N8. 945 billion. Speaking at a town hall meeting in Aba, a member of the Board of Directors, EEDC, Dr. Stephen Dike, stated that the company has commenced installing prepaid metres in some parts of the city, but added that it would be a gradual process to check what he described as metre bypass and energy theft by some consumers.
