Okowa mourns death of UNFPA Director, Babatunde Osotimehin

In a statement issued in Asaba on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, Governor Okowa lauded the invaluable contributions of the former Health Minister to the development of the Nigeria health sector. Student in court over alleged certificate forgery

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J A 28-year-old student, Samuel Aminu, is standing trial in a Jos Upper Area Court, over alleged certificate forgery. Aminu, a student of Nassarawa State College of Arts and Basic Studies (NACABS), allegedly committed the offence on Nov. 11, 2016. According to the prosecutor, Yakubu Audu, the accused had some deficiencies and was unable to graduate. “Since he could not graduate, he forged statement of result of the institution and has been using it to parade himself as a graduate of NACABS, “the prosecutor said. He added that Aminu went to Success Business School, Jos, to further his education and presented the forged certificate. “He applied for Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and was apprehended at the point of verification of the certificate before registration, “the prosecutor said. Musiliu Obanikoro,  over the death of his mother, Alhaja Wosilat Obanikoro. Alhaja Obanikoro died at the age 95 years on Saturday at her residence in Lagos. She was buried same day at the Ikoyi Cemetery according to Islamic rites. Mr Taofik Gani, the state’s Publicity Secretary of the party, said in Lagos that the party shared in the grief of the Obanikoros at this point in time. Netanyahu is suspected in two separate criminal cases of abuse of office. He denies wrongdoing in both cases and charges have yet to be brought against him. The source said Adelson gave his testimony in regard to what police have dubbed “Case 2000”, involving suspicions Netanyahu negotiated a deal in 2015 for favourable press coverage with the owner of Israel’s best-selling newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth. Adelson, a supporter of Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump and a major donor to the U.S. Republican Party, owns the widely-read free daily Israel Hayom. Man, 30, docked over alleged motorcycle theft

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J An Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Thursday granted a N150,000 bail to one Mukaila Afeez, 30, who allegedly stole a motorcycle. Afeez, whose address is unknown, is facing a count charge. The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 15 at 11.40p.m. in Ejibotuntun in Ogun. Gbesi said that the accused stole the motorcycle with registration number QH 873 AKD, valued at N150,000, from Mr Mayowa Ishola. “The accused went to the place where the complainant parked his motorcycle and stole it, but unfortunately for him, he was caught in the act,’’ he said. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, directed that the accused should produce two sureties in like sum also as a condition for his bail . Recalled that JTF troops had repelled an attack by militants and killed a suspected militant leader in a shoot-out with the bandits in Ondo State on April 30. Spokesman of the Joint Force, Maj. Abubakar Abudullahi, had confirmed the development and said that a soldier was killed and three others injured during the shoot-out.
