Murray fights back to reach French Open semi-finals, to meet Wawrinka

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Britain’s Andy Murray reached his fourth consecutive French Open semi-final with a four-set win over Kei Nishikori on Wednesday in Paris. Newsmen report that the world number one came through 2-6 6-1 7-6 (7-0) 6-1 against the Japanese eighth seed at Roland Garros. The 30-year-old Scot now goes on to face Swiss third seed Stan Wawrinka, who beat Marin Cilic 6-3 6-3 6-1. It is a repeat of last year’s semi-final, which Murray won in four sets before going on to lose in the final match to Novak Djokovic. “Stan has played fantastic games this tournament so far,” said the Scot. “Last year when we met he was playing very well and I had to play one of my best matches on clay to beat him. “It’s not always been easy for me here but the last few years have been great.” Nine-time champion Rafael Nadal will take on Dominic Thiem in the second semi-final pairing, after the Austrian knocked out defending champion Djokovic. Gov. Akeredolu orders dissolution of oil c’ttees in Ilaje, Ese-Odo

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has dissolved all oil-related committees in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas of the state. The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Olusegun Ajiboye, said in a statement in Akure on Wednesday that the dissolution would take immediate effect. It advised all oil companies in the council areas to take note of the directive and to desist from dealing with members of such committees. The statement further urged members of the various committees to comply with the directive and refrain from acts that might lead to a breach of the peace in the council areas. It further called on security agencies to take note of the development. “Governor Akeredolu remains committed to developing every part of the state and to use all the God-given resources for the progress and development of the state and its people,” the statement said. Edo speaker denies division in house

Okonoboh told newsmen in Benin while inspecting ongoing renovation of the assembly that there was no division in the house. He urged the people to disregard the rumour, saying that all was well in the legislature. ”The house is not divided; we are one family, but again there no house that is complete anywhere in the world. ”We are 24 members from different constituencies; we cannot all speak with one voice. We all have our different opinions and views,” he said. Okonoboh assured the people that the house would resume plenary as soon as all technical repairs currently ongoing in the complex were completed. Over 500 Nigerians rot in Chinese prisons

According to sources, an estimate of 535 Nigerians are presently rotting in Chinese prisons for various offenses which also includes drug related offenses. Speaking to Vanguard, sources disclosed that two out of about 200 Nigerians who come to China on a daily basis are arrested for drug trafficking. However, Deputy Director General, Foreign Affairs Office of People”s Government of Guangdong Province, China, Mr.  Luo Jun, noted that although, Nigerians are good friends of the Chinese,  it is imperative to abide by the law of the country which states that drug trafficking is a serious offense and when caught, depending on the size and or grams of the drugs, the culprits are either given a death sentence or made to serve long-term imprisonment.
