Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Naomi Uzor L AGOS Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, has blasted the power sector reform as underperforming, saying power supply is presently worse than pre-reform era. This came as the Federal government said it is committed to creating an environment to enhance the global competitiveness of Nigeria’s export. Speaking at the LCCI Presidential Policy Dialogue Session, LCCI President, Chief Mrs. Nike Akande, expressed the frustration of the organised private sector with the performance of the power sector reform. She said, “The power sector reform undertaken four years ago has not met the expectations of the business community and the citizens,” adding that the power situation is worse than before the reform and the consequence of this is that high energy cost had persisted in the economy, affecting the competitiveness and sustainability of business. Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Victor Ahiuma-Young ORGANISED Labour has said the recent appointment of Funso Doherty as Director-General of the National Pension Commission, PenCom, by the Acting President as replacement for Dikko Aliyu Abdulrahman will further lead to crisis of confidence in the leadership of PenCom. Speaking through the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers, NUTGTWN, Labour contended that the best way out of the logjam  is for the Federal Government to return to due process by recalling the former Director General, Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, to complete her tenure in accordance with the Pension Reform Act 2014. In a statement by the President and General Secretary of the union, John Adaji and Issa Aremu, respectively, labour said: “As an affiliate of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and a critical stakeholder in the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), we are concerned with recent developments in the pension industry. The Labour market institut...

Oyo FA Cup: 3SC plan to shoot down Crown in final

Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J For the sixth consecutive year, Shooting Stars and Crown FC will play in the final of the Oyo State FA Cup final. The two state owned club sides have stamped their authorities on this competition by making it impossible for other clubs to get to the final. Of the two however, Crown of Ogbomosho have shown some dominance over their more illustrious rivals. In the last five editions, Crown have lifted the trophy thrice, bowing to the Ibadan warlords just twice. Can Crown FC maintain their dominance with yet another victory this year? Both teams meet today on the familiar turf of Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan. This is the background of this epic final and both teams are not toying with the encounter, giving all the attention it deserves. For the Shooting Stars, it is a tie they want to win going by the available records of trailing their Ajilete brothers. Determi-nation was almost visible on the faces of Shooting Stars players who are more than determined to turn a...

Order from above

Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Muoka Lazarus Text: Genesis 31:24 “And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. Verse 29 “It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.” Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” As many whom the Lord has Chosen, the royal priesthood and anointed of God. God has given an order from above to you and against every spirit, be it the devil, or the human agentl; God has given order concerning you. As many of you, who are going through this message today, who have become a Chosen, an order has been given concerning you because you are recognized in heaven, God has Chosen you as his special people and God is jealous over you. If you look at t...

Canelo vows to KO Chavez

Image
http://ift.tt/2q970jB Canelo Alvarez technically didn’t predict he’ll knock out Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but the Mexican superstar all but said that’s what will happen when they fight tonight. Speaking to a group of reporters at MGM Grand, Alvarez admitted it’s difficult to think their 12-round, super middleweight match will go the distance at T-Mobile Arena. The 26-year-old Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) has not been knocked out since he turned pro in October 2005, but the 31-year-old Chavez (50-2-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC) was stopped by Polish light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara after nine rounds in their April 2015 fight in Carson, California. Fonfara floored Chavez in the ninth round that night, which prompted Chavez to quit on his stool before the 10th round started. “The percentages of a knockout are very high, are very good because of the styles, because of the knockout ratios of both,” Alvarez, who’ll face Chavez at a contracted catch weight of 164½ pounds, said through a translat...
