Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has described the 21 students on state government scholarship to the prestigious Lincoln University as worthy ambassadors, a pride to the state and their families. This was contained in a congratulatory message the Governor sent to the students, who all graduated on May 12, 2017. Anambra drivers set up N150 million welfare foundation

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Chimaobi Nwaiwu, Nnewi THE Anambra State Drivers Welfare Association, ASDWA, has established a N150 million welfare foundation, known as Anambra State Drivers Welfare Foundation, ASDWF, towards taking care of themselves and helping their members who run into health and accident problems in the course of their jobs and to help their bereaved family members. Speaking with South East Voice , President of ASDWA, Chief Emmanuel Ukatu, said the funds from the foundation will also be used to carry out charity works and to invest in ventures that will generate funds for the foundation from where it will be getting money to sustain it. This came as the Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, said the Nigerian economy was gradually coming out of its worst recession in years. “Nigeria is coming out of recession. We are beginning to see the signs and we will come out to become stronger,” Adeosun said. They both spoke at an Abuja Town Hall meeting, organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture in Abuja. Adeosun added that though the administration inherited a bad economy, it had succeeded in cleaning all the mess in the system and had put steps in place to check further revenue leakages. EFCC docks ex-gov Aliyu on 8-count charge

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Granted N200m bail By Ikechukwu Nnochiri A BUJA — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, arraigned  immediate past Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, before a Federal High Court in Abuja on an eight-count money laundering charge. Aliyu was docked alongside the 2015 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Umar Nasko, over allegations that they conspired and diverted over N1billion from the state Ecological Fund received from the Federal Government in 2014. Nasko, served as Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Environment, Parks, Gardens and Forest Resources under Aliyu’s administration between 2007 and 2015. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges, and also prayed the court to allow them on bail pending the determination of the case.
