Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov on Tuesday said that Moscow was concerned that contacts with the Donald Trump administration had not yet led to positive shifts in the relations between the two nations. Russian news agencies quoted Ryabkov as saying that as nuclear powers Russia and the United States cannot afford to keep their relations at such a low level. Tensions between the two countries have soared over the conflict in Syria, with Russian President Vladimir Putin backing Syria’s government and the U.S. opposing it. On April 12, Trump also said that relations with Russia “may be at an all-time low” following Syria’s use of chemical weapons on April 4, and the U.S. airstrike that followed. Stopping just short of accusing Russia of complicity with the sarin gas attack against civilians April 4, Trump said it’s “certainly possible” that Russia had advance knowledge of the use of chemical weapons by its ally. “I like to think they didn’t know....

Osinbajo stated this on Monday in a nationwide broadcast to mark the second anniversary of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He said that accounting for the funds had become imperative in view of the determination of the administration to bring persons accused of corruption to justice. According to him, funds appropriated to build roads, railway lines, power plants, and to equip the military, that have been stolen or diverted into private pockets, must be retrieved and the culprits brought to justice. “We believe that the looting of public resources that took place in the past few years has to be accounted for. “Many have said that the process is slow, and that is true. Corruption has fought back with tremendous resources and our system of administration of justice has been quite slow. “But the good n...

Delta state: Two years after

Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By  Prince Abugo MAY 29,2017, Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa would be two years in office. Two years of four years tenure is monumental in politics because any government would have had its road map marshalled, promises fulfilled and marshaling policies  and programmes in tandem with the  hopes of the electorate. In assessing Okowa, Iamprivileged from two sides of the coin, what he has done differently and how he is steering the ship olf state  from mistrust and bitterness that once divided us from a united people with purpose. The main issue in Delta is Okowa. He  has met expectations, considering promises made. He has unified political and socio-cultural interest groups that were at daggers drawn. He has spread development across the state and removed the wedge of mistrust that exist between the three senatorial zones. Two years after, in terms of unemployment, ethnic bigotry and tribalism, social vices, corruption, food, shelter, and hous...
