FG releases N3.7bn for school feeding in 9 states

http://ift.tt/2jqUWSR By Johnbosco Agbakwuru ABUJA – THE Federal Government Sunday said that it has released N3, 770, 688, 144 for the feeding of 1, 287, 270 school children in nine states under the HomeGrown School Feeding Programme of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s Social Investment Programme. A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande in Abuja, Sunday, stated that about 14,574 cooks have been hired for the smooth implementation of the programme, which is projected to cover over three million pupils in 2017. According to the statement, the nine benefitting states that have already received various sums in tranches from the programme are Anambra, Enugu, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ebonyi, Zamfara, Delta and Abia. http://ift.tt/2oxqA7G Justice Walter Onnoghen Says allegation aim at stalling on-going judicial reforms The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, has denied online reports claiming that the Department of State Security Service (DSS) allegedly found the sum of $9million in his home. In a statement issued yesterday by the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the CJN, Mr. Awassam Bassey, Onnoghen described the report as infantile lies, intended to impugn his good name and distract him from the on-going judicial reforms. The Commissioner of Police ,Mr Agyole Abeh, said this at a news conference in Kaduna on Friday, “The Command wishes to state that, there was no report of such incident and the story is entirely a fabricated falsehood intended to create fear in the minds of citizens. “It is pertinent to note that command has not relented in acting on reports on the suspected activities of criminals in the state.” The commissioner, who was represented by his deputy in charge of operations, Mr. Abdulrahaman Ahmed, said the command had only recorded an incident where five persons driving along Kaduna-Abuja express way were attacked and three of them were robbed while the other two were kidnapped. “When the report reached us, the Command’s technical and human resources where deployed to ensure the rescue of the two victim...

Isa Salihu is a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly who represents Magajin Garin Constituency of the state.
