Cocaine trafficking: Ogbuaya, wanted Lagos socialite reports to NDLEA

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Evelyn Usman L agos socialite, Mrs Fumilola Arike Ogbuaya, who was declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in connection with unlawful exportation of 1.595kg of cocaine to Saudi Arabia three months ago, has reported at the agency’s Lagos Command. The anti-narcotics agency commenced investigation on Mrs. Ogbuaya after arresting one Odeyemi Omolara Morayo, also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi, for drug trafficking. The suspect, during interrogation, implicated Ogbuaya. Several invitations, according to the NDLEA, to the socialite for questioning was not honoured. The agency’s head of Public Affairs, Ofoyeju Mitchell, who confirmed Ogbua’s visit, disclosed that NDLEA had also secured an interim forfeiture order for several assets worth billions of naira traced to Mrs Ogbuaya. Experts seek inclusion of orthodontic care in NHIS, PHCs

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Chioma Obinna O n this year’s World Orthodontic Heath Day, medical experts have called on the Federal Government to include orthodontic care among medical treatment covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS as well as at the Primary HealthCare levels. The experts under the auspices of the Nigerian Association of Orthodontists,NAO, have also embarked on a weeklong awareness campaign on the need for people to get prompt and accurate orthodontic care. At a press conference to kick start the week in Lagos, the Secretary of the Association, Dr. Mrs. Toluwalase Yemitan observed that inclusion of the orthodontic care in the NHIS and PHCs would not only guarantee access to care but affordability. Meanwhile the scarcity of funds bedeviling the interbank money market is expected to persist this week with volatility in cost of funds as experienced last week. The MPC at the end of its 112th  meeting held in March maintained its tight monetary stance by retaining all the key policy rates citing headwinds in the domestic economy and the uncertainties in the global environment. Nigeria partners UK to provide health care for aged

The Minister of Health  gave this assurance in Abuja, when a 3-man delegation from Birmingham City University led by Prof.Hafiz Khan visited him, to present a proposal on how to improve quality care for the aged population. He said: ”When you look at our population profile, we are a youthful population with about 70 per cent youth and 30 per cent elderly, so when we look at the aged, we are planning for the future.” He noted that as Nigeria increase in population; definitely the aged population will increase as a result of demographic transition, adding that Nigeria needs to look at the issue of the elderly in the context of our social system. They were said to be fighting over political slots in preparation for the forthcoming chairmanship and councillorship elections. When Vanguard visited the scene, incessant fight in the area had forced many residents to abandon their homes and businesses. Vanguard gathered that the fight involved thugs at Akpasa, Ishaga, Campus, Safejo, Alaba and Market. Lanre Abdulraham defeated the number 3 seeded male player in the country, Sodiq Taiwo  by a close margin 3-2 to win the men’s title. For the first time ever, there was no disparity in prize money between the male and female categories. One hundred thousand was given to the winners, while the first runner up got N75, 000 each while the third place winners got N50, 000 each.
