Nadal is chasing a 10th title at Roland Garros while second seed Djokovic, working with new coach Andre Agassi, is looking to defend the only major he still holds. World number one Andy Murray is seeded to face 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka in the last four. Murray starts against Russia’s Andrey Kuznetsov, Djokovic tackles Spanish clay courter Marcel Granollers while Nadal meets combustible Frenchman Benoit Paire. Weaponized penis drives sexual ‘arms race’ (in beetles)

http://ift.tt/2qfAZD4 This handout photo released by Uppsala University on May 23, 2017, shows a seed beetle's penis, as seen through a microscope in a laboratory at the Uppsala University. Males of the species, it has long been known, boast an imposing member resembling a medieval, spike-studded steel ball mounted on a metal shaft. "The penis is covered in hundreds of sharp spines which pierce the female reproductive tract during mating," explained Liam Dougherty, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Western Australia in Crawley, and lead author of a study that asks a deceptively simple question: how do females cope? The answer — based on a decade of laboratory experiments spanning 100 seed beetle generations — reveals a remarkable story of adaptation, and an evolutionary tit-for-tat that Dougherty likens to a "sexual 'arms race'." "When males evolved to increase male harm, the females co-evolved to reduce that harm," and in more w...

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Police in the northern English city of Manchester are investigating an incident at the Arndale shopping centre, an officer at the scene said on Tuesday. The centre in Manchester, England, was evacuated and witnesses said they heard a “big bang” on Tuesday, just hours after a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured 59 in the same area of the city. Scores of people ran away from the center, a Reuters witness said. “There are people coming out holding hands,” a Reuters photographer said.
