The fun in Ramadan

Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Wahab Abdulah T he non-Muslims could not possibly imagine the joy that Muslims feel in Ramadan. The wealthy and the poor, the environment and economy including all strata of the society are inundated in the spirit of Ramadan. Apart from the spiritual blessings which every Muslim yearns for, the spirit of giving and care for the have-nots enliven the society and every Muslim is happy. The giver gives cheerfully while the receiver receives with joy. Overtly or covertly, this is the rahma of Allah on us. No amount of words can describe how important Ramadan is or the blessings and the benefits we, as Muslims, take from it. Feeling of festivity No words can describe how good it feels to complete a day’s fast or the joy and the feeling of festivity when each day’s fasting is over with gifts exchanging hands. We cannot pretend not to know that there are many Muslims in our environment whose fast will not end. In fact, thousands are starving merely because they...

http://ift.tt/2oywruo Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Committee has called for unconditional release of the former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido and other political detainees in custody. The PDP made the call in a statement issued by Mr Dayo Adeyeye, the National Publicity Secretary of the Committee on Monday in Abuja. The party stated that its attention has been once again drawn to “unwarranted arrest and detention” of Lamido by men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) in Kano State. Adeyeye described the arrest of Lamido as “outrageous and anti-democratic” and not base on the frivolous allegation of ‘inciting the public’ levied against him. “The true reason for his arrest, however, has to do with the forthcoming Local Government elections in Jigawa State.” The arrest of former Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue, according to the party, was also linked to the forthcoming Local Government elect...
