This came as Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, condemned the Senate recommendation for a N5 levy on fuel price, saying it would make the price of a litre petrol to sell above N145.00. Saraki, who made the clarification while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State after the breaking of fast, also said the Senate would this week discuss a motion on the interest rates being charged by commercial banks on loans to customers, particularly entrepreneurs who borrowed funds to stay afloat and contribute to the National Gross Domestic Product, GDP. Ijaw nation which made the observation yesterday through the Izon-Ebe Oil and Gas Producing Communities Association, IOGPCA, in Warri, Delta State, said, the PIGB as passed by the Senate is a direct opposite of the original Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB. The Ijaw body stated: “In the original PIB, 2% was set aside for host communities. Surprisingly, it was removed from the PIGB. On composition of governing board, no reference was made to host communities, but that it will be composed by the President. Father, friend rape 15-yr-old daughter

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J A   38-year-old man, Yusuf Oriyomi, and his friend, Idowu Ayigoro, 42, were yesterday brought before an Ikeja chief magistrate’s court, for allegedly sexually assaulting Oriyomi’s 15- year-old daughter. The father is being tried for sexually assaulting his own daughter, while his friend was arraigned for alleged sexual assault on the same girl. The father, a baker, resides at 24, Ferry Close, and his friend, a carpenter, resides at Arabamo Street, both in Oworoshoki, a suburb of Lagos. The prosecutor, Inspector Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed in 2012 and on April 30, 2017 at Oworonshoki. Both have sexually assaulted the girl on different occasions, with her father and his friend taking turns. Ogu said that the girl’s mother had travelled to their village when the father woke her up at  night and put his manhood between her thighs. Speaking in Abuja, Onuesoke said the Igbo ethnic national has rights that must be respected,    noting that if the Igbo choose to be on their own, they should be allowed to go. He, however, advised that should that be the case, to avoid bloodshed,    the federal government should conduct a referendum among the Igbo, both in Nigeria and diaspora, over their demand for self determination so that some of them are not forced against their wishes. The Church made the call in a communiqué issued on Sunday in Abuja at the end of the Annual Synod of the diocese, under the chairmanship of the Bishop of Nyanya, Rt. Rev Samuel Nortey.
