Trial judge, Justice Abdulaziz Anka , ordered that Maduka be remanded after he was arraigned by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, on two-count charge of importing and selling fake cosmetic products. According to NAFDAC prosecutor, Umar Shamaki, the accused person imported unregistered lotion and whitener contrary to Section 1 (1) of the Food, Drug and Related Product Act and punishable under Section 6 (a) of the same Act. Maduka, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Justices Anka has adjourned the case till June 14 for the hearing of the accused person’s bail application and the commencement of trial. Joel admitted to checking into the hotel with the woman before her sudden death, saying he rushed the deceased to a nearby hospital, where the doctors confirmed her dead. Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, who made the disclosure, said Joel narrated that both of them had checked into the hotel located around NOWAS, Trans-Ekulu Junction and shortly after taking some drinks, the lady became unconscious. The incident also left about five persons with bone fractures. The Executive Secretary of Katsina State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Dr. Aminu Waziri, confirmed the incident. Waziri said the teen died when he ran out of his parents’ house as a result of the wind, which blew off the roof of their house, causing confusion among the occupants. He said the agency had already carried out cautionary intervention of providing the displaced persons with food stuffs, adding that assessment was on to ascertain level of damage and losses suffered by each individual.
