NECO candidates seek traditional rulers’ intervention to end labour/govt feud in Nasarawa

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Some candidates writing the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO) has appealed to traditional rulers and other stakeholders in Nasarawa State to intervene in the labour/government feud to end the protracted workers strike in the state. The candidates made the call in separate interviews with the Newsmen on Wednesday in Keffi, Nasarawa State. They said that if government allowed the strike to continue, it would affect their chances of coming out with good results. The candidates also said that the strike would not only affect the NECO examination but it has already affected the education sector negatively, hence the need for the traditional rulers and other stakeholders to intervene in the interest of children. The Acting Head of the Department, Dr Mudathir Akorede told newsmen on Tuesday in Ilorin that the device could also cut off electricity supply to the premises of customers stealing electricity. ”This will simultaneously send a message to the utility control room to alert the system operator with such customer’s details displayed on the control panel,” he said. Akorede said that processes of filing application for patenting the invention had commenced through the university’s Laboratory to Product Centre. Police arrest 2 suspected kidnappers of imam in Kogi

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), has arrested two suspected kidnappers, whose gang have been allegedly terrorising Kogi and its environs, the Commander, ACP Abba Kyari, has said. Kyari, confirmed the arrest to the Newsmen in Lagos on Monday. Kyari said that following the Kidnapping of Alhaji Jibrin Idris, an Islamic Scholar in Enabo, Ankpa Local Government  Area of Kogi, on Feb. 2, police launched a manhunt for the kidnappers. He said that the effort was in response to the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris’s, directive to the IRT. Making the distribution on behalf of the state governor, in Zurmi on Sunday, the deputy governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala, reminded people of the state that  Zakkat  is mandatory on every Muslim, who had the resources. He, therefore, urged all those who were supposed to make the annual offering from their wealth, such as money, animals and grains, to continue to do so, in order to improve the well-being of the poor. Speaking at the event which took place at his palace, the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, said a total of 378 persons would get N20,000 each. Visa on Arrival: NIS appeals to foreign investors to use online platform

The NIS Spokesperson, Mr Sunday James, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. He said that the Comptroller-General of NIS, Mr Muhammad Babandede, noted that in spite of the instruction that companies should send their applications by email, some still sent representives to the NIS headquarters in Abuja. “We wish to note that despite the liberalisation policy on the application for the Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility by email, some organisations/companies still‎ send their representatives to physically submit their applications at NIS headquarters. “We advise that applications should be filled online, instead of visiting the office.” Babandede also reiterated the need for applications to be sent to — voa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng with relevant documents for immediate p...
