The senate said that there were 13 states that had not yet domesticated the child rights act. It also urged government at all levels to urgently address social ills such as child labour, street hawking and cultism bedevilling the social development of Nigerian children. This was contained in a motion raised by Chairperson of the committee on women affairs, Sen. Binta Masi on “2017 Children’s Day celebration” during Thursday’s plenary in Abuja. She said that Nigerian child was playing significant roles in the nation’s development and there was the need to secure its future through the domestication and implementation of the act in every state. The Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, said this at a function organised by the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) on the margins of the annual Offshore Technology Conference going on in Houston. Baru, who was represented by the Chief Operating Officer Gas and Power, Saidu Mohammed, at the meeting said the corporation would seek to raise about 13 billion dollars to 16.5 billion dollars over the next five years.
