Malpractice: Over 10,000 candidates caught in Anambra, says JAMB

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) says more than 10,000 candidates caught for examination malpractices in the on-going UTME in Anambra have been handed over to appropriate authority. Mrs Lynda Nwachukwu, the Coordinator of the board in Anambra, disclosed this in Awka on Saturday. The computer-based testing (CBT) mode 2017 UTME, which started on May 13 in 642 centres nationwide, ended on May 20. Nwachukwu said that the examination, which took place in 28 centres in the state, was successful. “There was no disruption of the exercise in any of the examination centres,’’ she said. The coordinator said that the candidates adhered strictly to the requirements of the examination, adding that JAMB provided all the materials required for the examination. However, some parents complained of system failure in some CBT centres in the state. Nigeria wins bid to host 2018 IPI World Congress

The IPI is a global organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of press freedom and the improvement of journalism practices. Founded in October 1950, the IPI has members in over 120 countries. A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu stated that the development followed a successful bid made by the Nigerian Chapter of the IPI led by its Chairman, Kabiru Yusuf, the publisher of the Daily Trust newspapers and Malam Isma’ila Isa, a long standing member of the world Executive Committee of the IPI in Germany. Shehu in the statement stated that Nigerian team showcased the rich cultural heritage and democratic advancement of Nigeria in a video presentation to win the conviction of the stakeholders. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J A human rights group, Coalition for Truth and Justice, CTJ, has replied the statement credited to the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike saying the governor should tell Nigerians what he knew about an alleged coup being plotted by some power jobbers against the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government. A statement issued by the group through its National Coordinator, Barrister Charles Timothy, said Wike’s reaction was not necessary as it does not portray an understanding of the essence of what Buratai meant. Recall that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tikur Buratai had raised an alarm, saying some politicians were meeting with some soldiers for some political reasons not healthy to the country’s democracy and unity.
