Prof. James Omonu, Head of Human Kinetics and Health Education Department, stated this on Saturday in an interview in Lapai. “Exercises enhance mental alertness in reading and learning. The more an individual exercises, the more alert the person becomes. “A student that fails to regularly engage in exercise is limiting himself academically,’’ he said. Omonu said that regular involvement in activities that keeps a person fit has the tendency to lower cardio vascular diseases and body weight gain. The money in question is said to have been recovered from the residence of Ngwuta by the DSS during a search on the residence on Oct. 7, 2016. At the resumed hearing on Friday, Justice John Tsoho, said that he was informed that the Naira denomination in the court’s custody was different from the amount the witness gave on Thursday while giving evidence. “I am just receiving the information that there was a problem with the exhibit because the amount announced by the prosecution in respect to exhibit 11h should have been N35,358,000, but when counted, it was N35,335, 840. “So, it doesn’t agree with what the witness said as there appears to be a shortfall.” The money is N22,160 less the amount the witness gave. The objective of the mission is to take free healthcare to the grassroots and under-served areas of the state. The Coordinator of the group, Dr Dolapo Fasawe, told newsmen that the mission had also attended to over 200,000 people in 19 local government areas of the state. “Ikorodu will be the 19th local government area that we have attended to and I am surprised seeing a large turnout from its environs. “We have been here for three days and we have attended to both old and young. “We did not only diagnose, we give treatments immediately and advised people on how to take good care of their health. “The treatments were on hypertension, diabetes, dental, eye sicknesses, malaria and HIV screening. “Adults, children, even disables are all benefitting from the programme,” she said. The group warned EMA not to allow itself to be used in the hands of saboteurs within the educational sector who do not mean well for the good of our country. EMA, a non-partisan society of academics had during the weekend called for the sack of the duo over alleged corruption. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Wednesday sentenced an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Yisa Olarenwaju, charged with obtaining proceeds of unlawfal act. Justice Mohammed Idris sentenced the INEC official based on a plea bargain agreement he reached with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). EFCC had rearraigned, in absentia, the immediate past Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, alongside three officials of INEC -Christian Nwosu, Yisa Olarenwaju and Tijani Bashir. They were brought to court on a six-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N500 million, which they pleaded not guilty but the second defendant later changed his plea to guilty.
