Abuja hotels to admit guests with identification -HOFA

Image
http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Hotel Owners Forum Abuja (HOFA) has resolved to admit only guests with valid means of identification in hotels as part of security measures in the Federal Capital Territory. The president of HOFA, Dr Chike Ezeudeh, told Newsmen in Abuja on Monday that the move was to checkmate criminality and terrorism in hotels in the nation’s capital. Ezeudeh noted that identification of guests with valid means like international passport, drivers’ license and others was not strange adding that it was a global practice. “When you get to Dubai in the Emirate, you surrender your International Passport; that is the only way to identify a guest. “Plans are underway to legalise it. Soon, people who want to lodge in hotels will surrender their driver’s license, international passport and any other means of identification. “When such is done, data including telephone numbers and addresses of the person will be documented just in case of eventuality, the person can be traced or his...

Nigerians will not tolerate military rule anymore – retired AIG

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Abuja – A retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mr Felix Ogbaudu, says military rule is no longer acceptable anywhere in the world. Ogbaudu stated this in a telephone interview on Monday, at the backdrop of rumours of rumblings in the military against the Federal Government. He said that it would be abnormal for Nigeria to be taken back to the era of military rule, adding that military administration was an aberration, which had caused more havoc than good. The retired police officer commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, for warning military personnel to desist from meddling in politics. “There is nothing wrong with the statement made by the Chief of Army Staff and as far as I am concerned, it was made in good faith. “There is nothing wrong in him advising them not to meddle in politics. If you have been following events, you will see what is happening in Cote d’Voire. “Military rule anywhere in the world is an abnormal situatio...

During Erdogan’s visit to Washington to meet U.S. President Donald Trump, a brawl erupted between protesters and Turkish security personnel outside the Turkish ambassador’s residence. Turkey blamed the violence on demonstrators linked to the militant Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), while Washington’s police chief described the incident as a “brutal attack” on peaceful protesters. The Turkish foreign ministry said it summoned the U.S. ambassador to protest “aggressive and unprofessional actions” by U.S. security personnel to the security team of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. “It has been formally requested that the U.S. authorities conduct a full investigation of this diplomatic incident and provide the necessary explanation,” the foreign mi...
