Sanusi commends S/Eagles, lauds passage of NFF bill

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Mohammed Sanusi, Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has lauded Super Eagles for beating Hawks of Togo 3-0 in an international friendly match. Sanusi told newsmen on Friday in Abuja that the victory was a motivation for the team ahead of 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa. The game, played in Paris on Thursday, is one of the tune-up games arranged by Coach Gernot Rohr to test the players ahead of the qualifier in Uyo on June 10. “It is a very good motivation for them ahead of the clash against South Africa; it will spur them to give in their best,’’ he said. In an interview with the New York Times on Saturday, Williams said that he recently learned that President Trump said he believes Twitter put him in the White house. “It’s a very bad thing, Twitter’s role in that,” he said. “If it’s true that he wouldn’t be president if it weren’t for Twitter, then yeah, I’m sorry.” The White House did not respond to a request for a comment on Williams’ statement, the Times reported. The 45-year-old Silicon Valley entrepreneur criticized the internet for rewarding extremes calling it “broken.” Williams said that he was wrong for thinking that the world would be a better place if there was a platform for everyone to freely speak and exchange ideas. Civil servants to own houses in Sokoto

Alhaji Bello Gwiwa, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Survey, disclosed this in Sokoto on Sunday, at a ministerial press briefing to mark Gov. Aminu Tambuwal’s second year in office. He listed houses to be sold to include those at the parliamentary quarters, Yauri flats, Runjin Sambo housing estate, Arkilla quarters, Gwiwe intermediate housing estate and G-quarters. Others included the government houses behind UBA quarters, temporary site quarters, among others. “The governor has already set up a committee to ascertain the houses involved, assess their costs and recommend the prices and modalities for payment. “As the commissioner in the housing ministry and head of the committee, I can tell you that we have completed our assignment and will submit the report this week,” he said. He said this is in order to avoid a situation in the past where some contractors would commit suicide for not being able to repay the loans they borrowed from banks to finance state projects. Governor Okowa also pledged that his administration will manage the state’s public funds prudently and ensure that workers salaries are not owed them. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Security is tight in and around Katsina metropolis following the arrival of the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for a one-day working visit to the state. Joint security personnel have been posted to various strategic places in the state capital, Katsina. A combined team of armed soldiers and mobile police has been posted to the Emirs palace, Government House and the State Secretariat where the Acting President is expected to visit. Some of the security personnel were seen patrolling major streets of Katsina metropolis, while others were stationed at selected roundabouts in the ancient city. Armed soldiers and policemen were also seen at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport where the Acting President’s aircraft had landed.
