Analysing surveys from 230 first-time mothers at Penn State, Dr. Ian Paul, a pediatrician, found that babies slept for longer stretches if they didn’t sleep in the same bedroom as their parents. At 4 months, babies who slept alone had the longest stretches of uninterrupted sleep of about 45 minutes, on average though they slept about the same amount of time as babies who slept in their parents’ rooms. At 9 months, babies in their own rooms slept 40 minutes longer at night and over 20 minutes longer overall, compared with those who were still sharing a room with their parents. Those differences disappeared at 12 months but reappeared later. When the researchers followed up at 2½ years, toddlers who began sleeping alone by 9 months slept 45 minutes longer per night, though total sleep ti...

The Command’s Spokesperson, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said that investigation had started immediately and perpetrators would be brought to book to serve as deterrent to others. “Investigation had commenced on the case and the command would not relent until the perpetrators were arrested,” he said. An official of the Lagos State KAI Brigade was reportedly lynched by street hawkers at Iyana-Oworo area of Lagos on Tuesday. The board “faces the colossal task of regulating public entertainment in the digital age,” the state-owned Herald newspaper said, raising fears of further restrictions on criticism of Mugabe’s regime. The newspaper said the board would play “a critical role in controlling and regulating the media and film industry and examining any article or public entertainment submitted to it”. Chikore’s mother Grace is head of the ruling ZANU-PF party’s women league, and is seen by some observers as a potential successor when the 93-year-old president dies.
