Mr Robinson Koyoyo, Project Director of GCAA, told newsmen that foremost Nigerian Actress, Monalisa Chinda and the current SSG of Rivers State, Kenneth Kobani, were also nominated for the awards. Other nominees for the awards, which will hold in October, include Rivers State Waste Management Agency, traditional rulers, as well as industrialists, veteran entertainers and leaders from the region. Mr Koyoyo said that the names were among the list of nominees made available by organisers of the awards, Heritage Plus, an NGO that celebrates productivity, excellence and good governance. TCN gets $1.5bn to finance power transmission projects

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Prince Okafor The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has secured about $1.5 billion dollars from donor agencies to finance power transmission projects in Ogun State and other parts of the country. The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, in his office in Abeokuta. According to him, “TCN would require land in places, such as, Lukosi, in Abeokuta; Redemption Camp and Mountain of Fire Ministries area, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor as well as Ajegunle, very close to Agbara and Arigbajo axis. “The land would be used for building sub stations that will help to expand the nation’s transmission capacity, adding that the sum of $1.5 billion dollars has already been secured from donor agencies to finance the project,’’ he explained. President of the  NANNM, Mr. Abdulrafiu Adeniji,   who disclosed this during the International Day of Midwives in Abuja, said the development has hindered midwifery  practice in the country and  prevented nurses from  performing their  functions effectively. Lamenting the  disharmony in the health sector, he said doom was imminent if the situation is not effectively  tackled. “Health is a multi-disciplinary industry that recognises the unique practice within the profession. Neglecting  and underrating  nurses has plunged Nigeria into the abyss,” Adeniyi noted. It is a very welcome target that will see Nigeria undergo a renewable energy transformation. However, there are certain strategies that the government must adopt if the renewable energy component of this wonderful vision must become a reality. Firstly, the government should be able to leverage on community partnerships and ownerships of renewable energy projects. The indefinite suspension order is contained in a letter addressed to the six affected officers by the National Acting Secretary, Mr Chukwu Aguonye and took effect from April 27, 2017. In 2014 Kenya’s Teshome Mekonnen and Ethiopia’s Wude Ayalew ran 28:35 and 32:41 respectively to smash the course and the Nigerian all-comers record of 29:39 and 33:01 set a year earlier at the inaugural edition of the race. ‘Last year at the fourth edition of the race the Kenyan duo of Simon Cheprot (29:48) and Polline Wanjiku Njeru (33:53) failed to race past Mekonnen and  Ayalew’s records but all that will change this year,’said Yusuf Alli,a technical official of the race. ‘The quality of the elite athletes confirmed for this year’s race is such that we cannot even rule out a new world lead come May 13.
