ATI in talks with Nigeria insurance industry, 7 other countries

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Favour Nnabugwu AFRICAN Trade Insurance (ATI) is currently discussing with Nigeria’s insurance industry and those of seven other nations on the need to be a part of the association as member countries. The seven other countries are: Ghana, South Sudan, Angola, Cameroon, Sudan, Djibouti and Sierra Leone. ATI’s Chief Executive Officer, George Otieno, who noted that some of the discussions are in top gear with the countries, said, “We have opened talks with Nigeria, Ghana, South Sudan, Angola, Cameroon, Sudan, Djibouti and Sierra Leone. Some of the talks are at an advanced stage. For example, we expect to complete negotiations with South Sudan by end of the year. TETFund releases N1trn to varsities, polytechnics in 5 yrs

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Johnbosco Agbakwuru ABUJA — TERTIARY Education Trust Fund, TETFund, has released about N1 trillion intervention fund to public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education for project development and content-based intervention in the last five years, Executive Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa, has said. Baffa, who disclosed this to journalists in Abuja, also said the agency had made it compulsory for benefiting institutions to defend their project proposal before funds would be released to them to ensure effective utilisation. He noted that TETFund embarked on Access Clinic/Project defence proposal which lasted two months for the beneficiary institutions. According to him, the beneficiary institutions that made presentations at the Access Clinic/Project Proposal defence, based on the 2016 allocation, were 181 in number, including 74 universities, 50 polytechnics and 57 colleges of education. Industrialist remanded over faking of products in Anambra

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Vincent Ujumadu A WKA —AN Onitsha, Anambra State –based industrialist and manufacturer, Mr. Benjamin Nwizu has been remanded in prison custody by the Federal High Court sitting in Awka, for allegedly producing fake and counterfeit products at his Onitsha factory. Nwizu, who is the Managing Director/CEO of I & K Golden City Investment Limited, Bendusco International Agency Limited and D & K Golden City Investment Limited, was alleged to have committed the offence in October, 2014. The Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON, had dragged Nwizu to court for committing the offence, which the federal agency said, violated laws governing the operations of SON.
