Wike assures investors of security in Rivers

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers said on Sunday that the state was becoming safer for investors on a daily basis due to the state government’s investment on security. The governor stated this in Port Harcourt at a dinner to mark the 20th Anniversary of Air France’s first flight to Port Harcourt International Airport. He said that the state government would do all in its power to build on the confidence of investors to conduct business in the State. Wike said that wooing investors remained critical to the development of the state, because it would generate employment. “It is a priority for us to attract investors for our people to be employed; that is why we make security a priority,” he added. Melaye, who is representing the Kogi West Senatorial District in the Senate, made the statement in Kabba, Kogi, on Sunday when he addressed his supporters. He said his achievements in the Senate were enormous and as such the people of the constituency were solidly behind him. Melaye, who later led his supporters on a peaceful march round Kabba town, alleged that the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, was behind the move to recall him, The electorate in the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West Senatorial District on Saturday besieged polling units in the area to endorse the request for the recall of the senator. They affixed the photocopy of their permanent voter cards to the recall form. Davis, whose Conservative Party is due to put its policy programme or Queen’s Speech to parliament on June 19 after failing to win a majority during Thursday’s election, said the Brexit talks would begin at some point next week. “It’s in the week of next week, basically, is the first discussions,” Davis told Sky News when asked about the practicalities of the negotiations. “My permanent secretary is actually in Brussels today talking to them about the details. “It may not be on the Monday because we’ve also got the Queen’s Speech that week and I will have to speak in that and so on.” With 643 out of 650 seats declared, the Conservatives had won 315 seats.
