Echoes of freedom, separation and restructuring are booming. I have observed that certain forces do not want the Southern part of this country to speak with one voice. Lord  Frederick Lugard amalgamated the Southern and Northern sections in 1914. With the passage of history, three regions: Eastern, Western and Midwestern, emerged from the South. It is unfortunate that while the North continues to be one in the politics of domination, the South remains divided along ethnic and neo geo-political lines. I have dwelt so much on  Igbo-Yoruba ties.  The younger ones who do not know history continue to abuse themselves as Biafrauds and Yorobastards. Those of us, their seniors, will not allow this internet war to distract us. The South must unite for this co...

Kazaure, who inspected facilities at the camp located at Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area, said its general condition fell below standards. The DG, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, also called on state govern-ments, whose camps were in poor shape, to improve them in line with their statutory obligations as spelt out in the NYSC Act. Earlier, in her welcome address, the NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mrs. Esther Atammenwan, lamented the poor state of the camp, saying it had dilapidated buildings and obsolete facilities. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Emman Ovuakporie ABUJA—APPARENTLY disturbed by the oil spill in Ikara communinity in Edo State, and in a bid  to avoid a blood bath in the community,  National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the  Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation, NPDC, to commence the clean-up of the community or face sanctions. Acting Director, Impact Assessment Department of NOSDRA, Mr Oluwole Adeleke, who represented the Director General, Mr. Peter Irabor,  gave the ultimatum at an adjourned hearing of the matter which is before the  Nkem Uzoma Abonta-led Committee on Public Petitions.
