FG Anti-corruption fight is yielding fruits – Lai Muhammed, Kemi Adeosun

The two ministers gave their positions on Tuesday in Abuja at the special edition of Federal Government’s Town Hall Meeting to mark mid-term of the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Newsmen report that nine ministers gave reports of performances of their ministries and governance in general at the event organised by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture. Mohammed, the host minister who gave the overview of government performance, said that government had successfully taken on corruption at its core, contrary to what many may want to believe. Reps urge IGP to dislodge herdsmen in Delta communities

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The House of Representatives has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, to dislodge herdsman who have invaded Ossissa community in Delta. The House also urged the IGP to urgently intensify efforts at ensuring that peace returned to the community. This was sequel to “matter of urgent national importance’’ raised on Tuesday at plenary by Rep. Nicholas Ossai (Delta-PDP). Ossai said that there was urgent need for intervention “in the beheading, brutal killings and recent invasion of Ossissa community in Delta by suspected herdsmen”. Moving the motion, he expressed grief over the invasion that occurred on Wednesday, when suspected herdsmen laid siege and invaded the community. He said that the herdsmen beheaded a commercial motorcyclist identified as Mr Udoka Ossai. Ossai added that the invaders also killed six other people, who were indigenes of Ossissa,Utagbo-Uno and Aballa communities in Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas....

Ogun Assembly seeks clarification on how Paris Club fund was spent

The assembly members gave the directive on Tuesday in Abeokuta while questioning the commissioner over the financial status of the state. The lawmakers, who were not satisfied with the presentation of the commissioner, directed him to provide details of the beneficiaries from the fund. Mr Olusola Bankole, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, said that the invitation of the commissioner was not to witch-hunt but to promote accountability and transparency. Anukpe said the forum was designed to review cases of of human rights violations during security operations in the North East region ravaged by Boko Haram insurgents. She said that the meeting would impart modern knowledge in the security personnel on human rights principles and civilian protection. “The meeting is to train security personnel on principles of human rights and civilian protection during counter insurgency operation,” Anukpe said.
