OPL 310 is an offshore license that contains the Ogo discovery, which is located in shallow water offshore Lagos. Lekoil’s acquisition of Afren’s stake in the license brings its total holding in OPL 310 to 40 percent. Lekoil’s acquisition of Afren’s remaining 22.86 percent participating interest in OPL 310, as announced on December 1, 2015, remains conditional upon receiving ministerial consent. It was learned that on Saturday evening, he was intercepted by gunmen. Sources said the Registrar was dragged out of the car and whisked away, with his official car abandoned along the road. Confirming the incident yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state Command, Aniamaka, said one arrest had been made in connection with the matter. “We are on the trail of the kidnappers,” Aniamaka said, adding that the vehicle in which the Registrar was driving had been recovered. The victim, simply, identified as Lekan, said to be in his early 30s, was on his way to his newly-rented apartment in the area when the incident happened. His widow is nursing a six-month-old baby. According to an eyewitness, Mr. Shehu Balogun, the incident, which happened at about 7p.m. on Saturday, resulted in pandemonium as every Okada rider in the area went on rampage, attacking other motorists in anger.
