FESC and its Rivers sector commander

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J THE recent maltreatment meted out to some female personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Port Harcourt, by a superior officer speaks volumes of how official power is frequently excessively exercised among our uniformed services. In a brazen display of  authority, the Rivers State Sector Commander of the Corps, Mr. Ayodele Kumapayi, during an early morning routine “hair, uniform and fingernails” inspection parade, used a pair of scissors to cut the  hairdo of some female officials. A video of the Commander carrying out the punitive action ignited outrage in the social media. The FRSC official guide for female staff members at FRSC parades stipulates that they “maintain a hair style that can be tucked into their beret”. There is no prescription for the  action the Sector Commander took. Certainly, the action, which dehumanised the officers, was outside the FRSC mandate and decent public conduct. Edo jobs verification: Applicants express satisfaction with process

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Registered applicants and observers of the ongoing Edo jobs initiative have expressed excitement over the smooth and transparent process of the ongoing verification exercise for prospective officers of the State Traffic Control and Management Agency in Benin City, the state capital. This came as the screening and verification process of the week-long exercise reached its third day yesterday. The visibly optimistic applicants, who spoke with Vangurd expressed confidence in the conduct of the verification exercise. They said their experiences and observations proved to them that the exercise would be free of any form of external and political influence. Agbi, who is a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said although it was unfortunate and at the same time fortunate, emphasizing that both  the former and new speakers are from Okpe Kingdom and as such there was no cause for alarm. Expert gets fellowship

The institution’s Registrar Mrs Abimbola Olaiya announcing   the award said it is given to those who distinguished themselves in advancing African development and humanity, adding   that Opone met these conditions. A visibly excited Opone, who is the Managing Director, IMC Group, has Masters in Environmental Management and Toxicology from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, said: ‘’I welcome the award. It shows that we are being recognised by others. My joy is further crowned on receiving this award from an influential international university outside the shores of Nigeria.
