Policeman commits suicide after shooting wife, maid

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed that a policeman, Sgt. Thomas Agada, has committed suicide after shooting his wife and maid. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday at Masaka in Karu Local Government Area of the state. The command’s spokesman, Mr. Kennedy Idirisu, told newsmen in Lafia that late Agada served at the Police command in the FCT, but resided at Masaka, where the incident occurred. Idirisu explained that before killing himself, the deceased had shot and injured his wife and maid at their shop around De Memories Hotel in Masaka. He said the wife and maid were currently receiving treatment at the Asokoro General Hospital in the FCT, adding that investigation had begun to ascertain the motive behind the shooting. “We cannot say for sure now what could have led to the dastardly act but we believe that the wife, currently being treated would be of great help to our investigation, once she stabilises,” Idirisu said. FG mandates new FMBN executive management to reposition bank

Mrs Mercy Dominic, Unit Head, FMBN Public Affairs Department made this kown in a statement on Thursday in Abuja. Dominic quoted the Managing Director, Mr Ahmed Dangiwa as saying this in a meeting between the FMBN Executive Management Team and Heads of selected Primary Mortgage Banks (PMBs). Dangiwa said that the objective of the meeting was to brief the PMBs on the focus of the new management team of the Bank. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Mr Robert Azibaola, a cousin to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has asked a Federal High Court, Lagos to declare that the EFCC has no power to remand suspects under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA). Azibaola, a lawyer and environmental activist, had filed the suit following his arrest and detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in April 2016. He has since been arraigned and granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja. Azibaola, in the suit filed on his behalf by a Human Rights lawyer, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, joined the EFCC, and the Attorney-General of the Federation as respondents. He is challenging his alleged illegal detention. On Tuesday, Adegboruwa informed the court that he was ready to move the applicant’s originating summons.
