Oyo to generate 1,000 megawatts from wastes

http://ift.tt/2qCpPfC The Oyo State Government is to generate 1,000 megawatts from wastes following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with some power-generating firms. The state government on Wednesday in Ibadan signed an MoU with Siemens International, MRF1 and West African Energy on conversion of waste to energy. Gov. Abiola Ajimobi said that the project would promote industrialisation and generate employment opportunities. He said that the project was anchored on his administration’s developmental tripod of restoration, transformation and repositioning. The suspects were arrested in Benin , Edo state capital, Tuesday night. Information at Vanguard ’s disposal had it that the gang’s intention to send some of its members through the route , was to ensure that it was devoid of police presence as well as any other intruder. Their plan as gathered, was to use the route to relocate the abducted students to another creek as earlier threatened, following failure on the part of the affected parents to meet with the ransom demand. According to the group, the plan was for some incriminating materials to be planted in the houses of Senator Orji and his son in order to implicate them. Other appellants in the appeal are: BNP Paribas Securities Corp., Mr Hermant Patel and Seplat Petroleum Development Company Limited. Chevron, in the appeal filed two-and-a-half years ago, is challenging the judgment of a Federal High Court, Lagos, which assumed jurisdiction to hear a suit on the divestment of Chevron’s interest in Oil Mining Licenses 52, 53 and 55. At the last adjourned date, Brittania-U Nigeria’s counsel, Mr. Abiodun Owonikoko, SAN, told the court about a pending application seeking to dismiss the appellants’ appeal for want of diligent prosecution.
