The state government on Wednesday in Ibadan signed an MoU with Siemens International, MRF1 and West African Energy on conversion of waste to energy. Gov. Abiola Ajimobi said that the project would promote industrialisation and generate employment opportunities. He said that the project was anchored on his administration’s developmental tripod of restoration, transformation and repositioning. Information at Vanguard ’s disposal had it that the gang’s intention to send some of its members through the route , was to ensure that it was devoid of police presence as well as any other intruder. Chevron, in the appeal filed two-and-a-half years ago, is challenging the judgment of a Federal High Court, Lagos, which assumed jurisdiction to hear a suit on the divestment of Chevron’s interest in Oil Mining Licenses 52, 53 and 55. At the last adjourned date, Brittania-U Nigeria’s counsel, Mr. Abiodun Owonikoko, SAN, told the court about a pending application seeking to dismiss the appellants’ appeal for want of diligent prosecution.
