http://ift.tt/2sEs1AA By Our Reporters L AGOS — OUTRAGE, yesterday, greeted the ultimatum given by some Arewa youth groups to the Igbo to quit northern parts of the country within three months or be forced to do so. The Federal Government urged Igbo and other Nigerians to ignore the notice and go about their normal activities just as Governors of the 19 northern states disowned the Arewa youths, assuring that they have put measures in place to ensure there is no break down of law and order. In strong terms, the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF; Ohanaeze Ndigbo; and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB among others, condemned the statement by 16 Arewa youth groups with Governor El-Rufai calling for their arrests as ACF stated that the groups had no right to issue such a statement. The National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, had handed down the ultimatum a...

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Yinka Odumakin T HE scripture in the book of Numbers told the story of how when Israel was staying in Shittim, its men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women. The adulterous women invited them to the sacrifices of their gods and the people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. In the process, Israel became yoked to the Baal of Peor and the Lord’s anger burned against them. God then instructed Moses to take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the Lord, so that the Lord’s fierce anger may turn away from Israel. As the Prophet was relaying God’s instructions, an Israelite man brought into the camp a Midianite woman right before the eyes of Moses and the whole assembly of Israel while they were weeping at the entrance to the tent of meeting. The whole asse...

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Prince Okafor A MIDST report of inadequate power supply witnessed across the country, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, said it has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of power transformers in Bornu and Gombe States respectively. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Oma Djebah The root of the current political debate- as to the appropriate designation of the acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo- arising from President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to the UK on Medical grounds- lies much more on lack of communication or censored information on the part of the President’s team than any other factor else. The ability of a president to communicate his broad vision on national and international issues and communicate his/her personal and national challenges transparently, is therefore an important component of that office, even though the word communication does not appear in the constitutional job description for that office. I believe that President Buhari’s present ill-health is not necessarily the issue that has troubled Nigerians but its management. It can be safely argued that war-time British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill who ensured the surrender of Germany in 19...

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J It is always better for us to get close to know somebody because in our meets in the 7th Senate, we were far apart, but in this current Senate, I am the first person to tell people that Senator Ekweremadu is a perfect gentleman, and I repeat that many times. He is the type of Nigerian that we will want to continue to serve because he only sees things for the good of Nigeria. —Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki By Uche Anichukwu The man, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, is like an elephant explored by nine blind men. You appreciate him from the point of his personae that you have experienced or explored. To his teachers; former students at the Faculty of Law, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he taught Constitutional Law and Labour Law; to those who have listened to him present his many public lectures or read his books, he is an intellectual. To those accustomed to the arrogance that goes with power in Nigeria, Ekweremadu is humility personified. I went in...

http://ift.tt/2r7itxe Why we increased the budget by N143bn Don’t alter any figure, Dogara warns executive Budget will help Nigeria exit economic recession — Saraki By Henry Umoru, Emman Ovuakporie, Godwin Oritse, Nkiruka Nnorom, Rosemary Onuoha & Ediri Ejoh ABUJA — THE National Assembly, yesterday, passed the 2017 Appropriation Bill of N7.441 trillion, which represented an increase of N143 billion from what was presented last December by President Muhammadu Buhari. The increase in expenditure came with a significant mark up in the benchmark crude oil price to $44.5 per barrel from the N42.5 per barrel proposed by the President. However, the National Assembly maintained the daily crude oil production of 2.2 million barrels, and exchange rate of N305 to $1 as proposed by the President. Details of the bill show that 30 per cent or N2.18 trillion was allocated to capital expenditure, while recurrent expenditure (non-debt) and debt service received N2.987 trilli...

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Sola Ogundipe E at smaller meals This simple food-timing trick sends messages to your brain to release fat stores. If you haven’t eaten anything for 2 to 3 hours, it’s time to eat again. Ideally, choose some protein and non-starchy vegetables to get the best results. Some great options include: soaked almonds (soak for eight hours or overnight, then drain), celery sticks with almond or hemp seed butter, and apple slices with avocado or almond butter. Switch to coconut oil It’s a great substitute for butter, margarine, and most cooking oils. It also has more health benefits and stimulates the thyroid while lowering cholesterol levels. Eliminate the Candida albicans yeast in your intestines Yeast overgrowth is linked to an average weight gain. Shocking but true! And the incidence of candidiasis—the condition of Candida overgrowth—is surprisingly common. Getting to the bottom of this infection can help you lose weight. Candidiasis is linked to weight gain in...

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Sola Ogundipe I t is a general perception that a woman would do almost anything to have her way. Never underestimate the power of a woman, and woe betides the man that fails to acknowledge this fact. A man found out the hard way just how true this is when he was serially poisoned by his ex wife, who is currently at large. Andrea Heming admitted poisoning Ralph, her ex-husband’s meal, to dodge having sex with him. She has been on the run ever since. Andrea, from Las Vegas, Nevada in the US made the confession in a police interview. The 49-year-old told police she committed the crime because she was tired of having sex with her then-spouse, Ralph. Reports said she put Boric acid (an insecticide) in his cereal, energy drinks and whipped cream. She fled the night before she was due to be sentenced and has been on the run for two years. Ralph developed diarrhoea and nosebleeds. Emergency Room Physician, Dr. Travis Stork said: “Finally realised what was happe...
