Court adjourns EFCC’s suit against Jonathan to May 22

http://ift.tt/2ostoUw Former First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Patience Jonathan A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday adjourned to May 22, a suit seeking final forfeiture to the Federal Government, of the sum of 5.8m dollars belonging to former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan. Justice Mojisola Olatoregun granted the adjournment following an argument by counsel to Jonathan, Mr Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), that the respondent was not given sufficient notice to file a response. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the court had on April 26, issued an interim order for forfeiture of the sum of 5.8m dollars belonging to Jonathan to the Federal Government. The order followed an ex parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seeking a forfeiture of the sum to government, pending the determination of the motion on notice. The veteran French boss has still to announce if he will be staying at the Emirates Stadium when his current contract expires after the end of the season. The Gunners have just three games left before their campaign concludes — two in the Premier League against Sunderland and Everton before an FA Cup final newly-crowned champions and London rivals Chelsea. In marked contrast to the Blues, Arsenal have not won the English title since 2004 and Wenger has come under renewed pressure this season with his side in danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League.
