Lies! lies! lies!!! – part 1

Image
http://ift.tt/2sPDyxc Apostle Paul Taiwo Adenuga is President, Faith Revival Apostolic Church and Apostle Paul Gospel Outreach Our world is falling today and our generation is dying because we have chosen our path to tell, support and campaign lies. We have made lies our refuge. What is a lie? A lie is to say something that one knows is not true, to give false impression or to mislead. The Bible says, for this reason, the Son of God manifested to destroy the devil’s work (1 John 3:8). Whosoever tells lies belongs to the devil, for the devil is a liar from the beginning. Lies means devilish act. This is the reason the devil succeeded in the Garden of Eden by lying against God. He said what God did not say to deceive the first woman on Earth and they both fell in the hand of Satan (Genesis 3:1-5).  Today, people say I know God, the Father that I’m serving. But I want to tell you that the only Father that can save you in the day of trouble is the One that does not support lying. ...

The word is God

http://ift.tt/2nQxfL3 Segun Adewumi “Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.” (Jeremiah 5:14) There is need to let believers know that effective prayer is not what emanates from our mind, but rather the word of God, which is in two dimensions: The written word and the spoken word •The written word is the word of the Bible, which can be used as incantation in arguments to demonstrate the superiority of God’s power over demonic power and forces, citing instances similar to the case in which prayer is required. The written word is not the verdict in prayer, but it provokes the Holy Spirit to give the verdict. This verdict, which can be called Prophecy, is the spoken word. This is the word that comes spontaneously from our spirit on the matter for which prayer is sought. The advice here is that a prayer that has no support of the written word may not be effe...

From mentorship to within and without of metal art

Image
http://ift.tt/2sPP77t Lost in the Crowd by Fatai Abdulkareem Stepping out into his first solo art exhibition, Fatai Abdulkareem relished the value of his environment, particularly, that of mentorship. The exhibition, titled Within and Without, held at Yusuf Grillo Gallery, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos, exposed an artist whose body of metal work adds to the growing profile of the college’s in metal art. After his graduation years ago, Abdulkareem did not exactly leave the school: he submitted himself for mentorship under one of the college’s masters of metal art, Adeola Balogun. With that background, a ray of the mentor’s style is not going to be missing in the young artist’s work. But Abdulkareem’s skill, as a natural artist, is still loud in the body of diverse themes he showed at his debut solo. In building the body of work for the exhibition, the artist also took a deep look into his immediate environment, though sometimes, he “stumbled” on some ideas. One of t...

‘Prisons should be reformatory, rather than make enemies of state’

Image
http://ift.tt/2rPvgrM Osuman Chief Mamman Mike Osuman, former attorney general of Benue State and former Dean of Law, says skill acquisition programmes should be encouraged in our prisons and remand homes and when proper legal procedures are strictly adhered to, the prospect of creating or making criminals out of young persons and also over-populating our prisons and over-populating our prisons with awaiting trials will be drastically reduced or completely avoided. Legality of parading suspects It is inversely contradictory to call “suspects” “criminals,” let alone parade them before the public, sometimes under the glare of the television. In the Supreme Court case of IDOWU vs. THE STATE (1998) 11 NWLR (Pt. 574) Page 354, S.U. Onu JSC (as he then was) said: “It is settled law that suspicion, no matter how grave it may be, cannot found a conviction.” Adopting the vile and unconstitutional practice of publicly parading suspects is an anathema to Nigeria’s criminal justice system ...

The substance of Buhari, Osinbajo power transition

Image
http://ift.tt/2oM8dd1 President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice PResident Yemi Osinbajo at the president's office at the State House, Abuja on March 13, 2017. PHOTO: PHILIP OJISUA Sir: Nigeria is fast becoming a democracy so enamored of suspicion in its most demeaning and obfuscating nuances. It is most amazing that in a politically electrified chestnut, even the best and altruistic intention of any leader could be swallowed in mere semantic druthers. It’s been about a fortnight of high wired scrutiny of not just the constitutionality of the use of the word “co-ordinating” but also it’s appropriateness in the transmission of power from the president to his deputy in a bid to ensure a seamless working of all paraphernalia of governance whilst the president is on medical vacation. Whilst we may knock the presidency for the inadvertent use of underwhelming adjective, a  well-deserved kudos ought to be given to the president for consistently transmitting power to his deputy anytime he u...

Uber is also testing autonomous cars there and in other U.S. cities. “Lyft’s vision and commitment to improving the way cities move will help Waymo’s self-driving technology reach more people, in more places,” Waymo wrote in an emailed statement. The arrangement with Lyft suggests Alphabet is unlikely to rekindle its relationship with Uber. Alphabet’s venture capital arm counts Uber as its largest investment, but tensions rose after Alphabet showed interest in developing a competing ride-hailing service.
