The confirmation followed the report of the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, led by Senator Suleiman Nazif (APC, Bauchi North). According to the committee, the other 12 nominees are still undergoing screening. The Senate also recommended various taxes and levies to fund the proposed National Roads Fund. The recommendations are contained in a report by the Senate Committee on Works on a Bill for an Act to Establish the National Roads Fund for the purpose of financing the Maintenance and Rehabilitation of National Roads and for other Matters connected therewith, 2017( S.B 218) presented by its chairman, Senator Kabiru Gaya (APC, Kano South). She disclosed this during a visit to Katsina State to sensitise women on government’s social investment programmes, adding that the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, was working on modalities to establish the schools, while pleading with traditional leaders to allow women to go to school. She said government will  disburse N140 billion for women empo-werment via Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, GEEP. The minister, in the suit number HAD/57/2017, is asking the court to restrain the state governor, the state’s attorney-general and members of the judicial commission of enquiry from taking any step, following the pendency of two cases on the planned probe in courts of competent jurisdiction.
