Dalung warns against anti-election activities

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J T HE Ministry of Youth and Sports says it has come to its notice that some former Presidents of dissolved  boards of sports federations are planning to undermine the laid down process for the forthcoming elections into National Sports Federations and has advised all contestants to abide by the rules and guidelines adopted by stakeholders of the various sports and the Nigeria Olympic Committee. The Minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung gave the advice yesterday in Abuja while maintaining the Ministry’s commitment to producing democratically elected Sports Federations. Barrister Dalung reiterated that all sports Federations’ boards have been dissolved after the expiration of their four-year term and remain so to make way for credible elections. “The boards of all the federations have been dissolved. Anglican synod urges govt to save education, fight poverty

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Rising from its four-day synod, the Diocese of Lagos Mainland of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion yesterday urged all tiers of government and stakeholders to pay more attention to the dwindling standards of education and morality in the country and the disturbing stories of kidnapping and food poison in various schools to arrest further erosion of public confidence. The diocese called on stakeholders including the Church to take urgent steps to ensure provision of safe drinking water, hygienic and safe environments in all its schools for students to learn. FG has released N54bn for pension — Presidency

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J KADUNA— The Federal Government has released N54 billion for the settlement of inherited and current liabilities to retirees on the platform of the Contributory Pension Scheme. Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, disclosed this, yesterday, when he featured in an interactive radio programme, ‘Hannu Da Yawa’ on Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Kaduna. The programme was part of activities to commemorate the second anniversary of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. He also revealed that the Buhari administration had directed that regular monthly remittances be made into the Retirement Benefit Bond Redemption Fund, RBBRF, with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to ensure the continuity of timely payment of benefits to retirees. But for the absence of Manchester City wonderkid, Kelechi Iheanacho who was permitted to leave camp for London on personal grounds, the arrival of the duo would have swelled the number of players in the Paris camp  to 18. Iheanacho played and scored Nigeria’s only goal in their 1-1 draw against Corsica on Friday, but was permitted by coach Gernot Rohr to travel to London where he is expected to hold talks and a possible medical with West Ham United ahead a £24m move. The number would no doubt, swell further when the duo of Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina arrive the camp following Cup duties with their respective teams.
