The National Caretaker Committee of the party made the clarification in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Dayo Adeyeye, on Monday in Abuja. 96 suspected rapists nabbed within 2 months in Kano

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Kano State police Command, on Tuesday said it had arrested a total of 96 suspected rapists in the state between April and now. The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), DSP Magaji Majiya, said at an interaction with newsmen in Kano that 77 of the suspects had been charged to court, while eight cases were under investigation. He gave the average age of the suspects to be from 75 to 23. “It is disheartening to note that from April to date we have recorded 85 incidents of rape and other related offences. “A total number of 96 suspects were arrested and 77 cases have already been charged to court for Prosecution”. Majiya expressed regret that indecency and unnatural offences have been on the increase in the state. He said the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf, has made it a priority to ensure that all such cases were thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. EFCC to hold anti-corruption walk

According to spokesman of the EFCC, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, the Acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Mr Ibrahim Magu, is expected to lead the walk in Abuja. Uwujaren in a statement on Sunday quoted Magu as saying that the exercise was planned to coincide with the second anniversary of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. Association calls for caution in visa issuance to foreign mining investors

Shehu gave the advice in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Abuja, He said some foreign miners did not have the intention of mining but to promote illegality. Judge accepts EFCC’s apology on media trial, lifts embargo on Ashinze’s Case

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court in Abuja has lifted the embargo placed on hearing of criminal cases brought before him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over false dissemination of court proceedings by the commission. The judge who had refused to entertain cases from anti-graft agencies accepted the apologies tendered by EFCC for misleading the general public in the trial of a case involving a serving Army Colonel Nicholas Ashinze and four others. The EFCC through its counsel Mr. Ufem Uket promised the judge that his client will learn lesson and will no longer subject defendants in its cases to media trial any longer. Before the apology was taken, EFCC had tendered newspaper publications where the offending EFCC press statements were refuted as directed by the court.
