Ramadan: Shettima’s wifegives 200 bags of rice, sugar to widows

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J BY NDAHI MARAMA, MAIDUGURI – In the spirit of  Ramadan Kareem, the wife of the Borno state Governor and President Support for Widows, Orphans and Tsangaya (SWOT) Foundation, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima has distributed 200 bags of rice and sugar to each of the two hundred widows and orphans that their husbands and parent were killed in the Boko Haram insurgency in the state. The Foundation also gave N5,000 to each of the beneficiaries as transport fare back to their respective houses. Specifically, the widows and orphans were drawn from Maiduguri Metropolitan and Jere Council areas. Speaking at the occasion which took place at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Government House Maiduguri  on Saturday , Mrs. Shettima said that the gesture was to put smile on the faces of the widows and orphans in the spirit of the Holy month. Kidnapping: Police nab most wanted suspect in Lagos

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Inspector-General’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by ACP Abba Kyari on Saturday said it has arrested one of the most wanted suspected kidnappers in Lagos. Kyari, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen, said that the suspect was arrested at his Magodo residence in Lagos. “IRT headquarters in Abuja is celebrating the arrest of the most wanted brilliant and notorious high profile kidnapper in Nigeria. “He has collected several billions of Naira as ransom in the last seven years as the kingpin of kidnappers. “He was arrested at about 1.00p.m on Saturday in his residence in Magodo Estate, Lagos,” Kyari said. He commended the Force Headquarters for mobilising the resources to go all out against the “richest and most notorious kidnapper” in the history of Nigeria. Saraki told newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday that Nigerians, irrespective of political, ethnic and religious affiliations, must shun calls for disintegration. Pressmen report that Saraki, in company with Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari(APC-Oyo North), was in Ibadan for the wedding ceremony of the daughter of APC chieftain, Chief Bisi Akande. The senate president was reacting to the ultimatum issued by some northern youths to Igbos to quit the north by Oct. 1 and the counter threats by some other ethnic groups. Speaking with pressmen after watching the match on Saturday, the Secretary of Akwa Ibom Football Association, Joseph Eberefe, said that the loss struck him “like earthquake”. “It is disappointing, we did not expect this, it is very frustrating. “The absence of regular players like Victor Moses, Mikel Obi and the others were felt on the pitch, “These ones have tried but they are not experienced as the usual Eagles players,” Eberefe said.
