This came as Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State  denied the allegation by his political opponents that he was funding IPOB, including donating two SUVs and $50,000 to the IPOB leader, Mazi Kanu. The foremost constitutional lawyer further described Kanu as a great Igbo man with utmost courage, exploring where others shy away from. Nwabueze made the remarks when the IPOB leader visited him  and other members of the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, in Enugu. Gebrasilasis coasted home to victory in 29 minutes, 28 seconds, clinching the top prize of $15,000. He was closely followed by his fellow compatriot, Dawit Fikadu, who came second at a time of 29 minutes, 34 seconds to receive the $10,000 prize money. Another Ethiopian, Jemeli Bekeli, touched the finish line in 32 minutes, 22 seconds to win the third prize of $7,000. The fastest Nigerian in the male category of the race was Plateau State-born Jigade Monday, who raced to the finish line in 31 minutes, 53 seconds. NUBIFIE called it “politically motivated arrest.” The United Labour Congress of Nigeria, ULC, and NUBIFIE did not only condemn the arrest, but also claimed it was ordered by the Inspector General of Police, Idris Abubakar, to force NUBIFIE out of ULC.
