Trump to nominate ex Justice Dept official Christopher Gray to lead FBI

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he will nominate Christopher Wray, former U.S. Assistant Attorney-General under President George Bush, to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). “I will be nominating Christopher Wray, a man of impeccable credentials, to be the new Director of the FBI. Details to follow,” Trump said in a statement on Twitter. The U.S. Senate must approve Trump’s choice to replace former FBI Director James Comey, whom the president fired last month amid the agency’s ongoing probe into alleged Russian meddling into the U.S. election. Trump’s announcement comes the day before Comey is scheduled to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Moscow’s alleged interference and any potential ties to Trump’s campaign or associates. FG begins modalities to develop navigation channel on River Niger — Minister

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Minister of Water Resources, Mr Suleiman Adamu, has said that the Federal Government has begun processes for promoting a proper channel for navigation and irrigation on the River Niger. The minister made the disclosure in Abuja on Tuesday in an interview with the Newsmen. Adamu said that the project would be executed in partnership with the Hungarian Government to seek ways to introduce river training toward protecting the river banks and flood plains. The joy of the awardees who came into Asaba from far and near to received the cheque of the scholarship fund valued N100,000 each and their parents knew no bounds. The 100 students drawn from  the nine local government areas in Delta North Senatorial district of the state were enlisted last year as beneficiaries of the  Friday  Osanebi Foundation’s Annual Educational Fund at the launch of the program after a rigorous examination organized by the foundation. Court grants bail to whistle blower on Ekweremadu

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Monday granted bail in the sum of N500,000 to 50-year-old businessman, Ahmed Echoda, who allegedly gave false information to the Police about Sen. Ike Ekweremadu’s guest house. The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, also ordered the defendant‎ to provide one surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until July 20 for hearing. The defendant was arraigned on May 30 on a two-count charge, bordering on criminal conspiracy and giving false information to mislead a public servant, offences he denied committing. The judge had adjourned ruling on the defendant’s bail application after the defence counsel, Peters Ugwuoke, applied for his bai.
