Host Communities bill, solution to N-Delta unrest —Gbasin

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Mr. Philip Gbasin, Director Projects, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has said that the reduction of insecurity and vandalism of oil assets in the Niger Delta region, will be dependent on the passage of the Host Communities bill, now before the National Assembly. Gbasin explained that of the three bills from the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill, PIGB, before the National Assembly, it is the Host Communities Bill that provides the legal framework for partnership between the oil bearing communities and the international oil companies. Obaseki reintegrating deportees—NAPTIP D-G

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Benin—Victims of human trafficking deported to Edo state from Italy, Libya, and other parts of the world are being reintegrated into the Nigerian society, by Edo State Government, it emerged last weekend. They are to receive free education as part of the state’s reintegration process aimed at resettling them in the country, it was revealed. Julie Okah Donli, Director General of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), disclosed this in an interview with “The Osasu Show,” a television programme. While she explained that the agency did its bit by counselling them, the Director General also noted that the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, had been helpful in reintegrating many deportees and victims of human trafficking, back into the Nigerian society. Osun west by-election: APC disqualifies Husain, confirms Ademola Adeleke

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Gbenga Olarinoye Osogbo—The All Progressives Congress, APC, screening committee from the national secretariat of the party for the Osun West Senatorial seat yesterday has disqualified Senator Mudashiru Husain from participating in the party primaries. According to the result of the screening done on the screened candidates by the committee chairman, Hon. Sanusi Rikiji, Husain was disqualified because the party guide lines stipulates that a candidate must not “remain in the public service within 30 days prior to an election.” Rikiji said the two candidates (Sen. Husain and brother to late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola), presented to his committee by the state party were screened  and served the outcome of the screening according to the party guidelines.
