Okowa committed to development of Delta State — Aniagwu

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Mr Charles Aniagwu has said no stone would be left unturned to ensure even development of the state. Mr Aniagwu dropped the hint yesterday  in Asaba, while addressing members of the Association of Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria, (ACNPN). The Governor’s spokesman noted that despite the economic crises ravaging the country, Governor Okowa is working and recording successes in providing neccessary infrastructure in the state. Debris from missing military plane with 106 soldiers, children found in sea

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Pieces of a Myanmar military plane which went missing with more than 100 soldiers and family members aboard were found in the Andaman Sea late Wednesday, a local official said. Navy ships and aircraft had been searching since the afternoon when the plane lost contact with air traffic controllers. More than a dozen children were believed to be among the passengers on the plane travelling from the southern city of Myeik to Yangon. “Now they have found pieces of the damaged plane in the sea 136 miles (218 km) away from Dawei city,” said Naing Lin Zaw, a tourism official in Myeik, adding the navy was still searching the sea. An air force source confirmed to AFP that a navy search and rescue ship had found pieces of the plane in the sea an hour’s flight south of Yangon, Myanmar’s commercial capital. UNFPA executive director, Babatunde Osotimehin, is dead

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The executive director of the United Nations Population Funds (UNFPA) and a former Nigerian health minister, Babatunde Osotimehin, is dead. Osotimehin, who also led Nigeria’s aid control agency between March 2007 and December 2008, died on Sunday, aged 68, Babajide Osotimehin said in a statement on Monday. He was first appointed to lead UNFPA on November 19, 2010, for a four-year term. His appointment was renewed for another term on August 21, 2014. More details later.
