Why we Can’t do CVR at Ward Levels – INEC

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Ben Agande & Omeiza Ajayi KADUNA: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advanced reasons for its inability to scale down the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration CVR to the ward level, saying doing that would require the level of funding that the commission does not have INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this on Wednesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) and other senior staff of the commission over the ongoing continuous voters registration process. According to Yakubu, about N1.2bn would be required daily to pay allowances of adhoc staff, while the total budgetary​ provision for CVR in the 2017 budget which includes rerun and tenured elections, bye-elections and general elections is N1.2bn this year. Director of Airforce Public Relations, Air Commodore Adetokumbo Adesanya noted that the logistics base was discovered by Air surveillance aircraft one of several reconnaissance its mission to the Sambisa Forest and environs. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Ola Ajayi I BADAN— A 25 year-old woman, Mrs Esther Alex, was yesterday arraigned before an Iyaganku magistrate court in Ibadan for allegedly setting ablaze a building rented by her husband, to prevent him from reconciling with his first wife, who had been sent packing for her inability to bear children. In a count charge filed against her, she allegedly “willfully and unlawfully set a building on fire.” The prosecutor, Mr. Sunday Ogunremi, alleged that the accused on April 29, at Osuntogun Street, Oke-Itunu, Ibadan magisterial district, did willfully and unlawfully set fire to a building belonging to her husband’s landlady, Mrs Risikat Alarape, which is valued at N500,000. The accused told newsmen that she committed the offence out of love  for her husband, as her husband was making moves to reconcile with his ex-wife. Recall that Jamiu Ayoade, who had attended a friend’s birthday party at 49, Wosilat Daudu Street, Ijeshatedo, was reportedly shot at close range. http://ift.tt/eA8V8J The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted localised thunderstorms over the Central States of the country such as Jalingo, Ibi, Abuja, Minna, Bida and Lokoja on Friday morning. NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO), on Thursday in Abuja, also predicted localised thunderstorms over Bida and Ilorin in the afternoon and evening hours. It added that the central region would have day and night temperature of 28 to 35 and 18 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively. The agency predicted that the Southern States would experience localised rains over some coastal cities of Lagos, Ijebu-Ode and parts of inland cities of Ibadan, Warri, Benin and Asaba in the morning. It also predicted prospects of thunderstorms over Enugu, Abakaliki, Awka, Obudu and Ogoja and chances of rains over Port-Harcourt, Bayelsa, Uyo, Eket and Calabar in the afternoon and evening hours.
