Eagles set for Bafana Bafana

http://ift.tt/2sjg0QZ After a successful friendly games campaign in France, where they drew 1-1 with Corsica and a resounding 3-0 win against Togo, the Super Eagles returned to the country on Friday evening. Some members of the team dropped off in Lagos, during a short stop over while majority headed to Abuja. The team were allowed a short break yesterday and today and will be back in action at the Abuja National Stadium tomorrow, sources said. The team are scheduled to leave Abuja for Uyo on Tuesday ahead of the June 10 cracker against the South African national team, the Bafana Bafana. In the meantime the Super Eagles have continued to assure Nigerians that they will not falter on June 10, as they steady to avoid a situation which will make Nigeria not to be among Africa’s top contenders for the third time running after the country won the 2013 edition in South Africa.   The post Eagles set for Bafana Bafana appeared first on Vanguard News . Foreign capital inflow at $908m in Q1 2017 drops to 41.4%

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J By Yinka Kolawole THE total value of capital imported into Nigeria in the first quarter of 2017 (Q1’17) was estimated to be $908.27 million, according to a report released, yesterday, by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This represents a 41.36 percent drop from the value recorded in the previous quarter (Q4 ‘16), and was the second lowest value recorded since 2007, although it was an increase of 27.75 percent relative to the same quarter of 2016. The NBS report noted that though there was a high-profile Eurobond sales denoted in a foreign currency during the quarter, the inflow has not yet reflected in the data. “There is a lag between subscription and actual payment, and therefore it is possible that this will show up next quarter,” the NBS stated. The report added: “Capital importation was particularly low in January, at $187.90 million; this was only the fourth month since 2007 in which capital importation was less than $200 million. The legislature also partially increased the N40 billion proposed in the budget by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to N42 billion, which is a difference of N2 billion. In the budget, the agency itemised various projects for executions under the fiscal year, which include the rehabilitation, completion and construction of rural electrification projects across the nation.
