WHO issues new guidelines for antibiotic use

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J N ew advice on antibiotics  use has been released by the World Health Organisation, WHO. in its new Essential Medicines List (EML) The new updated guidelines differentiate which antibiotics to use for common infections and which to preserve for the most serious circumstances. This is contained among  additions to the WHO Model list of essential medicines for 2017. Other additions include medicines for HIV, hepatitis C, tuberculosis and leukaemia. The updated list adds 30 medicines for adults and 25 for children, and specifies new uses for nine already-listed products, bringing the total to 433 drugs deemed essential for addressing the most important public health needs. The EML is used by many countries to increase access to medicines and guide decisions about which products they ensure are available for their populations. This is contained in a data compiled by the FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange Plc for the month of May. Every month FMDQ compiles data on the transactions in the OTC market. Breakdown of the trading activities for the four month period showed that trading activities in Treasury Bills, T.bills, contributed the largest to overall turnover, accounting for 48.58 per cent or N21.99 trillion of the market. Secured market transactions (Repos/Buy-backs), followed, accounting for N9.60 trillion or 21.22%, while FX market transactions ranked third, with N5.94 trillion total turnover, representing 20.20 per cent of the total OTC market turnover. 2 die in Ogun auto crash

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J T wo persons were confirmed dead in a road accident involving a blue Toyota Corolla car and a Toyota picnic bus at Olodo area, on Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State. Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer of Traffic Compliance and En-forcement Agency, TRACE, in Ogun, confirmed the accident in Abeokuta, yesterday. Akinbiyi explained that the accident occurred Monday evening due to wrong overtaking by the driver of the Toyota Corolla. Akinbiyi said: “The accident involved a Toyota Corolla car with number plates KSF 846 EF and a Toyota picnic bus; RLG 61 AA. “The driver of the Toyota Corolla car tried to overtake the Toyota Picnic space bus, which resulted in a collision. “The vehicles had three passengers each— three males and three females.
