Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate, Mr. Uche Anichukwu who confirmed the development said that neither Ekweremadu nor any of his senior aides was informed before the search. According to him only the steward was present when the policemen who claimed to be from the Force Headquarters arrived at the 10 Ganges Street, Maitama guest house. Mr. Anichukwu said nothing was found from the search. The search happened about two weeks after Senator Ekweremadu alleged plans by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to raid him in either Abuja or Enugu. In a statement issued on Monday in Makurdi, its Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Olabisi Ayeni, said the police officer, ASP Bahago Ibrahim, and the three women were abducted in Mangodo village in Niger. He said Bahago was shot by the bandits while the women were abducted at different locations in the state by the hoodlums. He said the forces achieved the feat while carrying out a clearance mission of hideouts of bandits and cattle rustlers in the state. The  JTF troops had killed a suspected militant leader in a shoot-out with militants in Ondo state, and one soldier was also killed during the incident that occurred on April 30. Apochi told newsmen in an interview in Yenagoa that the JTF under his command remained committed to protecting innocent citizens residing in the Niger Delta region. He said it was regrettable that troops deployed on routine patrols to secure oil infrastructure were targeted in unprovoked attacks. Residents in a densely populated part of the city were ordered to leave their homes for the operation, planned since mid-April, to remove several recently discovered unexploded bombs. Authorities had expected to remove as many as five bombs but as the day developed it emerged that there were fewer. By mid-afternoon, experts had extracted three British bombs — two of which were defused successfully. The third bomb will require special equipment to be made safe. At two other sites, only scrap was found.
