Onobrakpeya, 8 others to showcase artworks at Adam and Eve

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Veteran artist, Bruce Onobrakpeya, will in June lead eight other experienced artists to exhibit artworks in a departmental store in Lagos to promote sale of works of art outside galleries. The other veterans to participate in the exhibition are Kolade Oshinowo, Lekan Onabanjo, Raqib Bashorun, Duke Asidere, Alex Nwokolo, Zino Orara, Fidelis Odogwu and Tola Wewe. Their works will be displayed on Adam and Eve Departmental Store, Ikeja, from June 18 to June 25 with the theme `Content’. The Curator of the exhibition, Mrs Modupe Ogunlesi, who is the Managing Director of Adam and Eve, said that there was the need to sell artworks on stores alongside other home and office needs. “Other things about home and offices are sold in the store but what are lacking are artworks. “If you have other good things at home and office but you don’t have artworks, it is not complete,” she told NAN. Emir of Daura commends FG on efforts to take care of IDPs

Farouk made the commendation in Daura on Tuesday when he received the National Commissioner of refugee commission, Hajiya Sadiya Farouk in his palace. He said the present administration deserved commendation because of its commitments and determination to alleviate the hardships of IDPs. He also lauded the efforts of Katsina State Government in supporting and implementing Federal Government programmes, stressing that Gov. Bello Masari was committed to replicating the ideas and philosophy of President Muhammadu Buhari in the state. The emir added that he would go round to interact with IDPs in his domain with a view to giving them a sense of belonging. Gunmen kill 2 policemen in Kogi, cart away rifles

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Two policemen have been killed by gunmen on Tuesday morning on Magongo-Okene road in Kogi. The gunmen also made away with the AK47 rifles of the policemen who were on duty during the attack. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, confirmed the killing. Inalegwu, who described the killing as sad, said the fleeing gunmen would be tracked down and prosecuted. The Administrator of Ogori-Mangogo Local Government Council in whose domain the incident took place, Mr Moses Akande, condemned the killing and described it as unfortunate . Supreme Court affirms Ikpeazu’s victory

Delivering the judgment, Justice Ejembi Eko held that the apex court had no reason to set aside the Aug.18 decision of the Court of Appeal that upheld Ikpeazu’s victory. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that two out of the three-man panel of the court had struck out the appeal instituted by Mr Uche Ogah. Ogah, also a PDP member had challenged Ikpeazu’s nomination as candidate of the party to contest the 2015 governorship election on account of alleged tax fraud. “The court having studied the merit of the appeal came to the conclusion that the respondent (Ikpeazu) had done no wrong. “The allegation of tax fraud levelled against Ikpeazu and the trial court judgment that accompanied it were misrepresentations of facts,’’ he said.
